How many
people do we serve? We serve over 200
people each week.
What
days does COTS serve?
We minister to the homeless in downtown Cleveland every Saturday except the second
Saturday of the month.
How can
I serve? The
two main activities are food preparation and serving downtown.
Where
does the food come from? The food is
donated by local restaurants and grocery stores.
How is
the food prepared? Food is prepared at CVC beginning at 9am on
Saturdays. Optionally, food may be
picked up ahead of time, prepared in your house, and brought to CVC Saturday
mornings.
Where does COTS serve the homeless? We are currently serving at East 18th
and Payne in the MHS parking lot. The
address for MHS is 1744 Payne Avenue. See the Map for more details.
How do I
serve downtown? Those going downtown to directly minister to
the needs of the homeless gather at CVC at 11:30am. We car pool downtown, pray, serve food, and
spend time with the homeless. We typically
return to the church before 2:00pm.
Do I
need to commit to a schedule? Committing to a regular date of service will
help us better plan and might help you fit this ministry into your
schedule. However, scheduling ahead is
not necessary. There are never too many
volunteers, so please come and serve. To be placed on the schedule, contact Patty Bodanza
(440-546-9565, bodanzap@sbcglobal.net).
I have
more questions, who can I call? Please
call 440-546-1120 and ask for Sue or Tom.
I can’t
prepare food or serve, so what can I
do?
He said to his disciples, “The harvest is so great,
but the workers are so few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of
the harvest; ask him to send out more workers for his fields.” - Matthew
9:37-38
