The need is greater than ever, and close to home...One out of every three Clevelanders lives in poverty, making Cleveland one of the poorest large cities in the country. The poverty rate in Cleveland has increased from 30% in 2008 to 35% in 2009, ranking it second in the nation behind Detroit. This has resulted in many people being homeless. They are struggling to survive without food, shelter and appropriate clothing. Most of them feel they have nowhere to turn and no way out. Amazingly, this is not a description of a far away country; it is right here in our own backyard. At the same time, the income gap between the "haves" and the "have nots" has widened to record levels. Many of us recognize the blessings we have been given and want to help. Care on the Square is a local Christian mission that exists to minister to those living on the streets of our local community. We provide food and clothing while offering encouragement and hope based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thank you for visiting our website. Please take the time to review the "About Us" page for more information about Care On The Square and the "How to Help" page if you are interested in getting involved.
"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever." 2 Corinthians 9:6
